I have been taking advantage of my current health care plan and have been having tests and check ups for a variety of things. While I am glad that most of the tests are free (I say most as only 60% of my MRI cost was covered by my insurance) I still have a couple of gripes.
First gripe, the insane red tape I had to go through before each and every procedure/test.
Next, the limited hours of the support team.
Next, how impersonal the doctors were. Every single doctor I went to barely even tried to get to know me. It’s as if they don’t care about me as a person only because I wouldn’t be paying them cash. They didn’t even try to get into my medical history. Perfect example, I told the doctor that I’m suffering from lower back pains. He didn’t even look at me and the only thing he said was “Go get an MRI” and in 45 seconds my check up (and i’m using that word loosely here) was over.
Naturally (well at least naturally for me) I spent the next couple of days whining to anyone and everyone about this experience and one of my friends told me about her provider which is Kaiser Permanente Colorado. The wonderful thing about Kaiser Colorado or Kaiser Permanente Georgia is that you would be assigned your own doctor who would take the time to get to know you and advise you 24/7. This sounds wonderfully specially to a paranoid mother like myself. Unfortunately I don’t like in Colorado or Georgia but luckily there is Kaiser Permanente California so I can avail of their services as well.
